Position Title: Customer Service Representative (Part-Time)


Department: Service Center


Description:
Fundamental Functions:

  • Handles large volume of transactions requiring a high degree of accuracy in such areas as answering phones, entering fax and phone orders, entering call tags and return authorizations
  • Interacts as necessary with personnel within the company to resolve customer issues
  • Decides appropriate actions required and making notations on account orders to fulfill customer requests
  • Works to meet sales and service goals and customer deadline
  • Uses computer terminals, keyboards or similar devices to obtain and establish data (min. 6,000 keystrokes/hour). Type and file as necessary
  • Answers questions regarding products from existing and new customers. Discusses inquiries about pending orders. Inputs and transmits orders, interacting with computers on a daily basis
  • Responsible for accurately computing and quoting to customers up to date pricing. Computations involve addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

Physical Requirements:

  • High stress conditions
  • Communicate on telephone up to eight hours/day
  • Sit 6-9 hours/day, stand and walk occasionally
  • Bend, squat and crouch 1-3 hours/day
  • Use repetitive hand and wrist movements and use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach, push and pull throughout the workday
  • Use close vision on a constant basis
  • Work under moderate noise conditions (business office with computers and printers)
  • Lift occasionally. Lift requirement of job: 35 pounds

Tools:

  • Computer, telephone, fax, 10-key calculator, typewriter, copy machine, file cabinet

Job Pre-Requisites:

  • Related high school courses (e.g., typing, computer training); and or business or formal college courses
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Previous experience in sales helpful
  • Skills test, including 10-key speed of 6,000 keystrokes/hr. minimum
  • Drug screen & lift test required
  • 90-day probationary period
